As we get closer to election day it seems that Democrats will have control of the Congress. All the polls that have been and are being conducted show that the Democrats are leading the Republicans by double digits.
If Democrats win the CIR will get through but the there will be a huge backlog as there arent enough people at USCIS to do the work, which in a way is retrogession. There will be relief for people with advanced degrees but on paper only.As it will still take years for their paperwork to get through USCIS, others will be in a worse situation as the waiting line would be huge.
If Republicans win there will be no CIR as pointed out by others in the thread. However, SKIL might get through and that will help shorten the waiting period for people without advanced degrees.
Based on my analysis (which might be completely wrong), I think we are better off with Republicans.

All officials have talked about processing 60k visas in a month to avoid visas going waste.
None was honest enough to say the unused visas expire on 09/30 NOT 06/30.
So, why the mad rush to give out all visas by 06/30?? We all know why..
some people say this was because of the Kennedy-Bush bill... to get good press for the bill.
IMO that may be true, but having seen the way US works, i'm willing to bet 25 cents that some high official's bonus depended on ending retrogression. So he did it, for all of 2 weeks.

What I posted was a plea to introspect (more so as the first anniversary of the D.C. rally approaches) - it was in no way dismissive of your efforts, or an effort to ridicule or demean your thread or its spirit.
Not sure why you felt the need to be rude - being firm and clear about your goals is a sign of leadership, and being blunt may get you some more brownie points. However, brash/rude behavior is not a substitute for that clarity and firmness, imho - particularly with those who may be working towards the same goals as you are (albeit coming at it from a different angle).

I AM going to face them, confront them, demand them to provide justice, if not I want them to REFUND every penny i have paid so far. If this "I AM" becomes "WE", half the battle won. Re contacting NumbersUSA and FAIRUS, do go ahead but I'm certain there is no chance of them holding hands with us and singing 'Kumbaya'. The discussions and postings on those sites look like they have been written up by "Ed Anger" of the World World News :D
And re toning down immigration bills to our advantage, you have to recognize that the primary issue is not that a bill will be passed which will not be optimal - the issue is whether any bill will be passed at all.

We should clearly adopt a position against any bill which supports amnesty and offer a sensible, reasonable and fair quantitative increase in Employment Visa numbers. An example of reasonable proposals would be temporary increase of visa numbers, elimination of visa lottery and reallocation of visa numbes to EB, visa number recapture.

Both and spouse and I received my receipts for our I-485, I-140, EAD, AP 09/19/07. On 09/24/07 we received fingerprint notice and on 09/27/07 we received our EAD card. I am quite surprise by how fast it came. Here are my details :
Priority Date: 10/15/04
Type: EB3
I-140/I-485: Concurrently filing at NSC. Receipt date 07/07/07
Checks cashed: 09/10/07
Receipts received: 09/19/07
Fingerprint appt: 10/09/07

2007 June visa bulletin moved EB3 India to June 2003. The very next month, they made everything current. Things went out of control after that. For some reason, in my dreamland, I am fantacizing the first move to repeat again. May not make everything current, but atleast, move EB3 to june 2003.

I am just trying to see if NSC could go past the I-485 received on 06/01/2007. Many folks whose application was received the first day got receipt and receipt#. Is there anyone who applied later and got the receipt or receipt#.

It looks like prior to this visa bulletin, the DOS was just guessing the dates for the visa bulletins. Hopefully this behavior changes moving forward.

I presume its already changed. Thats the one of the reasons, I guess, why they didnt move back the EB2-I/C dates instead moved a little further. Its a clear indication that they moving the dates steadily and consistently against the applicant numbers.
