The Election Commission on Monday officially approved the merger of the PRP with the Congress. It has sent the documents approving the merger to the Chief Electoral Officer Bhanwarlal in Hyderabad. With this, the PRP ceases to exist as per the EC records.
“Hitherto, the PRP was psychologically merged with the Congress. Now that the EC has given the approval, the merger is formalized,” party MLC C Ramachandraiah said.
He said the copies of the EC papers would be handed over to Assembly Speaker Nadendla Manohar and Legislative Council chairman A Chakrapani, so that the PRP legislators and MLCs would be treated as the Congress members hereafter.
