Salman Khan is grinning from ear to ear with justifiable pride. Ready is raking in the moolah, like there's no t'row. The figures spell it all: Rs. 75 crore gross box office worldwide on a 3 day non festive weekend across 2000 screens. Khan power, so to say.
South equals success for Khan. More correctly, South remakes translate as super wins for the irrepressible Khan. Sethu was as remade as Tere Naam; Wanted was a Hindi version of Pokiri and now there's Ready too. On the anvil are Bodyguard and Kick, both remakes of South flicks. Moreover, Salman is said to be keen on the remake of another South movie Mirapakai.
Salman, however, believes that it's a "sheer coincidence" that all the films that he has done are remakes of South winners. Although he does concede that he was a mite fed up of the "rom coms and niche films" and was yearning to do film with "herogiri"… and that's how he zeroed in on Wanted.
"I wanted to go to the theatre and see a 'hero' film. In the South they have not let heroism go away," Salman is said to have been quoted.
