YSR Wife Vijaya Lakshmi elected unanimously as MLA from Pulivendula

It is now more or less certain that Y S Vijayalakshmi, widow of former chief minister Y S Rajasekhara Reddy is all set to get elected unanimously as MLA from Pulivendula assembly constituency in Kadapa district.

Responding to an appeal made by Chief Minister K Rosaiah, Telugu Desam Party president N Chandrababu Naidu on Monday announced that his party would not field any candidate against Vijayalakshmi in the by-elections to Pulivendula seat scheduled to be held on December 19.

Other opposition parties including the Left parties, the BJP and the Praja Rajyam Party also responded positively to the chief minister’s request.

Vijayalakshmi will file her nomination papers on Tuesday, after addressing a meeting of the Congress activists and YSR supporters at YSR Auditorium in Pulivendula. Apart from YSR’s family members including his son and Kadapa MP Y S Jaganmohan Reddy and daughter Sharmila, several ministers and MLAs will be present when Vijayalakshmi files her papers.

The last date for filing of nominations is December 2 and for withdrawal is December 5. If no other candidate files nomination by December 2, Vijayalakshmi would be declared elected unopposed on December 3.
